According to KAKE: This dog literally saved his owners life after a burglar broke in. Rex jumped into action and took 3 bullets for his owner, saving his life.
Javier Mercado, 16, says three men broke into his Des Moines home on Wednesday.
“And that’s when I heard one gunshot, and several after that one, and my dog cried after every gunshot that hit him.”
Doctors said Rex will likely develop arthritis in the future and may need physical therapy.
The community has raised more than $60,000 toward Rex’s medical bills.
