Alex Rodriguez Pens Sweet Note To Jennifer Lopez After Golden Globes Loss

Alex Rodriguez was by Jennifer Lopez's side throughout the 2020 Golden Globes, but her fiancée took the extra step to ensure that his own leading lady was feeling just fine after her loss.

In case you missed out, Lopez appeared at the Sunday night (January 5) ceremony as she was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for her role in Hustlers, but lost to Marriage Story's Laura Dern. "Jen, it doesn’t take a trophy, medal, or plaque to identify a true champion," Rodriguez captioned a shot of Lopez on the red carpet after the show. "To millions of young women who have watched you and have been inspired and empowered to do amazing things in their lives, you are a champion. For countless musicians, dancers, actresses, and performers who have seen and emulate your passion, drive and work ethic to find their own success, you are a champion."

He went on to applaud Lopez for playing such a vital role in the lives of her children, family, coaches, staff and extended family. "You are a champion. To everyone whose lives you enrich daily, you are a champion. And don’t you ever forget it," he concluded.

Lopez was last nominated for a Golden Globe in 1998 for her role in Selena. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the pop titan reflected on the big return to the ceremony. "It was 22 years ago, and it was — I can’t believe I’m here. I’m happy that I’m still here,” Lopez confessed with tears. "[What would I tell the girl] who lost that day? I would tell her, ‘Don’t give up, keep going. It doesn’t matter what happens tonight, you’re still a winner.'"
