Bindi Irwin Marries Longtime Love Chandler Powell

Steve Irwin Gala Dinner - Arrivals

Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell have tied the knot!

The longtime lovebirds married in an outdoor ceremony on Wednesday (March 25), per aerial footage obtained by Seven News. The couple’s wedding took place at Australia Zoo and was described to have a “lush garden oasis” theme complete with white florals and a green archway for guests of the bride and groom.

Irwin and Powell’s union commenced hours after Prime Minister Scott Morrison enforced restrictions on weddings Tuesday night (March 24) amid the coronavirus pandemic. With these new regulations, weddings may only be conducted with the couple, the celebrant and two witnesses present.

As of this morning, at least 2,431 Australians have been impacted by the outbreak of COVID-19, a respiratory illness that causes fever, coughing, shortness of breath and fatigue. The virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, has since infected over 420,000 worldwide, resulting in over 18,900 deaths.

Irwin and Powell, who first met at Australian Zoo in November 2013, announced their engagement on the wildlife activist’s 21’st birthday.

"On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life," she wrote on July 24. "Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness. I’m so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. — Now let’s get married already!"

Congratulations, Chandler and Bindi!
