Extreme Heat Cause For Concern In California's Central Valley

The National Weather Service in Sacramento is warning that extreme heat will be the rule throughout much of interior Northern California for the next several days. Temperatures will likely exceed 100 degrees now through Wednesday, according to the forecasters, who have issued an an Excessive Heat Warning. That means the possibility of heat related illnesses will increase as the thermometer rises.

The forecasters also said there will be little to no relief overnight during this heatwave with low temperatures in the 70s to 80s.

Sacramento County is responding to the forecast by opening cooling centers in several areas. Each cooling center location will follow the CDPH Cooling Center guidelines.
