Harry Styles has spoken out following the tragic death of his fellow One Direction bandmate Liam Payne.
On Thursday (October 17), the Harry's House singer penned a heartfelt message on social media alongside a photo of Payne mourning the devastating loss of his friend, celebrating his legacy and remembering the good times he spent with him over the years. Payne passed away Wednesday after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was just 31.
"I am truly devastated by Liam's passing. His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honour to be alongside him as he did it," Styles wrote. "Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious. He was warm, supportive, and incredibly loving. The years we spend together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life. I will miss him always, my lovely friend."
Styles concluded his message by saying "[his] heart breaks" for Payne's parents Karen and Geoff, his sisters Nicola and Ruth and his 7-year-old son Bear, whom he shares with ex Cheryl Cole. as well as "all those around the world who knew and loved him, as I did."
One Direction released a joint statement from Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik on Thursday (October 17) breaking their silence on the sudden death of their "brother," sharing that they are "completely devastated" and are "[taking] some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother who we loved dearly." Additionally, a few of Payne's fellow bandmates have shared their own touching dedications. Tomlinson shared a lengthy message mourning a brother and best friend while ZAYN shared an emotional letter to the late singer.
Their posts join the growing list of heartfelt tributes mourning the loss of the "Strip that Down" singer, including a message from Halsey and a heartbroken response from Harry Styles' mom.
