Sabrina Carpenter responded to backlash over her new album cover with a clever, six-word comment.
The "Espresso" star recently unveiled plans to release her seventh studio album, Man's Best Friend, later this summer, and fans had differing reactions to the cover photo featuring Carpenter on her knees next to a man who is pulling her hair.
"Girl no, this ainât it," one fan commented on her Instagram Post announcing the record. "Youâve missed the mark by so much," another remarked.
Others avidly supported the album cover, stating, "Sabrina is coming for album of the year, artist of the year, pop vocal album, all of it, and Iâm here for it," and "OH SHES A BUSY WOMAN FOR SURE."
Posting on X, another fan wrote, "Does she have a personality outside of sex?" to which Carpenter candidly clapped back, "girl yes and it is goooooood."
This is not the first time the "Please Please Please" hitmaker has responded to public criticism of her choices.
In an October 2024 interview with Time Magazine, Carpenter addressed backlash she received from mothers who had "a strong opinion" about her "provocative" performance outfits.
"Youâll still get the occasional mother that has a strong opinion on how you should be dressing. And to that I just say, donât come to the show and thatâs OK. Itâs unfortunate that itâs ever been something to criticize because truthfully, the scariest thing in the world is getting up on a stage in front of that many people and having to perform as if itâs nothing. If the one thing that helps you do that is the way you feel comfortable dressing, then thatâs what youâve got to do."
