Newly acquired Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant learned he was traded by the Phoenix Suns while on stage at Fanatics Fest on Sunday (June 22).

Durant, 36, was notified of the trade while appearing alongside reporter Taylor Rooks on behalf of his media company Boardroom.

"We're gonna see, man, we're gonna see," Durant said when notified about being traded to the Rockets.

Durant then participated in an interview with FanDuel TV's Kay Adams minutes later and said both he and the Suns got what they wanted out of the trade.

"I just felt like, yeah, they wanted me to go so it was just like, I'm glad we both, they got what they wanted and I got what I wanted so we can move on and good luck to them going forward and I'll always remember my time there but we're on to something else," Durant told Adams.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Suns traded Durant, 36, to the Rockets "for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks." The 15-time All-Star was reported to prefer the Rockets, Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs as preferred trade destinations prior to the move being made on Sunday. The former NBA MVP has one year remaining on his contract and is eligible to sign a two-year extension next month.

Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 62 games for the Suns during the 2024-25 NBA regular season and 26.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists in four playoff games, having been selected as an All-Star for the 15th time in his career. The 36-year-old will join his fifth NBA franchise and third since 2023.

The Rockets finished first in the Southwest Division and second in the Western Conference with a 52-30 regular season record before being upset by the Golden State Warriors in the first-round of the playoffs.
