Amazon has released the first look at their upcoming women's baseball show. A League of Their Own is a series version of the beloved 1992 Penny Marshall film. The Penny Marshall-directed original told the fictionalized account of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League team the Rockford Peaches, with a cast that included Geena Davis, Tom Hanks, Madonna, Lori Petty, and Rosie O'Donnell. The new version aims to tell a bigger-picture story about women's baseball of the 1940s. The series cast features Abbi Jacobson, Chanté Adams, D'Arcy Carden, and Nick Offerman.

A League of Their Own evokes the joyful spirit of Penny Marshall's beloved classic, while widening the lens to tell the story of an entire generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball. The show takes a deeper look at race and sexuality, following the journey of a whole new ensemble of characters as they carve their own paths towards the field, both in the League and outside of it.
A League of Their Own premieres August 12th on Prime Video.
