Here's today's feel-good story:
Beyond The Bars is a new rehabilitative program offered by Canine CellMates that helps inmates to train shelter dogs for adoption in a 10-week program. The men learn valuable life skills, and the dogs get 24/7 socialization and training under special conditions.
Beyond The Bars allows men to stay out of jail, and instead, commit to training shelter dogs for a year.
“Coming from where I’m from, it helped me get a second chance at life,” said Ray Keith, a participant in the program since 2013. “The program is definitely giving me a second chance and also giving the dogs a second chance.”
