A quick moving fire in a building home to more than 100 senior citizens could have turned tragic without the quick actions of some US Marines.
It was a pretty bad fire there in Downtown Washington DC, about 200 yards from a small Marine outpost. Once the Marines realized that people were trapped in the building – they sprang into action. There wasn’t time to think because some residents were paralyzed and trapped on the fourth floor.
The Marines were the youngest and fittest of those who responded to the fire and because of their quick action, all 190 residents got out alive.
