Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby Announces Run For State Senate


Sacramento Mayor pro Tem Angelique Ashby is announcing her run for the California State Senate. 

Ashby says it's a big step she's been thinking about for the last several years.

Ashby is the longest-serving member of the Sacramento City Council. If elected, she would be the first woman elected to the State Senate from Sacramento in two decades. Council member Eric Guerra also announced a run for the District 6 Senate seat in February, as well as former California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones and Sacramento activist Dr. Tecoy Porter
