Missing Titanic Submersible: What We Know About Who Is On Board

Some people's greatest fear is unfolding on an international platform as the clock ticks down for those trapped in a missing submersible pod under the ocean. This pod is part of a tourism experience for people to travel down, nearly two miles under the Atlantic Ocean, to view the wreckage of the Titanic. The company behind the mission is OceanGate Expeditions. The CEO Stockton Rush is reported to be in the missing vessel, and he previously spoke to KFBK about the types of missions he leads with the company.

Listen to highlights from Rush's conversation with KFBK in the player below.

The submarine with five people inside made the dive Sunday, and lost contact with the vessel where it launched from after less than two hours. The sub can sustain itself for 96 hours, and rescuers are doing everything possible to find the vessel quickly. Those reportedly in the vessel in addition to the OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, is 77-year-old former French Navy commander Paul-Henri Nargeolet, British billionaire and chairman of aviation company Action Aviation Hamish Harding and wealthy Pakistan-based businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman. Harding posted to social media ahead of the journey that he is excited to be part of this mission, adding "Due to the worst winter in Newfoundland in 40 years, this mission is likely to be the first and only manned mission to the Titanic in 2023."
