Approximately 2.25 million air fryers are being recalled after the manufacturer learned they're not as good for people's health as originally thought.
The recalled kitchen appliances, which are made by the Atekcity Corporation, have been found to have defective wiring that can cause the units to overheat, smoke or even burst into flames, the company reveals. So far, Atekcity has received 205 reports of overheating problems, 10 of which resulted in injuries and 23 of which resulted in property damage, a spokesman says.
The affected air fryers, which are sold under the Cosori brand name, are the 3.7- and 5.8-quart models and cost between $70 and $130, Atekcity officials say. People who have one should visit recall.cosori.com to claim their choice of a free replacement, per the company.
